Is it a plane? A helicopter? No, it’s just a ceiling fan!

It’s 90 degrees here with very low humidity. It goes down to the 60s at night. Nothing is air-conditioned, but the ceiling fans are amazing. They’re huge and powerful and fast! As I close my eyes at night and listen, I can’t help but wonder if we’re going to take off! I’m praising God for great fans.

We all had a great day as the conference for missionary families began. People’s workshops went well and my keynote was well received. As with my other international experiences, these people are open and eager to learn.

The children of the missionaries are adorable. I get to speak to them tomorrow, along with two hours with the adults. I’ll speak with the teens and adults on Saturday.

Guess what I’ll do on Sunday? Ready…? It will be an adventure, that I know!

We’ll leave at 7:00 a.m. and drive a ways to someplace where we get to walk among giraffes. Really! I wonder how it will compare to the giraffe preserve in Kenya from almost two years ago? That was amazing! We fed them, but didn’t get to walk among them. I think giraffes are amazing and as a gift one Christmas, my staff adopted a giraffe at the Fort Worth zoo in my name so I think this is really cool!!!

After spending time with the giraffes we’ll drive more and take a 90-minute trip on the Niger River. Guess what we’ll do there? We’ll look for hippos! How cool is that????? I can’t wait!

Then we’ll shop at the market and then we’ll go to the one and only English-speaking church service at night. Sunday will be a full day! I’m very grateful for these opportunities!

Monday and Tuesday I’ll speak all day along with 2-3 others who are here so I’ll appreciate your prayers for energy. (I won’t go to everything on Sunday if I feel I won’t have the energy on Monday.)
