How much will you learn?
Each session will provide practical and insightful ideas that you can successfully use and will answer many new questions about the multiple intelligences.
NB - You might want your children to listen with you. Their reactions may help you determine their intelligence strengths and weaknesses and how to better help them succeed in school and life.
Here are the details:
Monday, February 2 –
o Dr. Kathy will share some basics about multiple intelligences.
o She’ll explain how Dr. Howard Gardner identified these eight as intelligences and not
just talents, passions, or abilities.
o She’ll also briefly define all eight and answer these questions:
o How are our smarts related to being right-brained or left-brained?
o How are intelligences awakened? Can the opposite occur?
o Can intelligences be “put to sleep”? How?
o How can we determine which intelligences are strengths and which are weaker?
What are the advantages of knowing this?
o Why is it valuable for children to know about their multiple intelligences?
The next six nights –
o Dr. Kathy will explain details of the eight smarts.
o She’ll share what children and adults enjoy and need when the smart is strong and
when it is weaker.
o She’ll share some teaching and learning strategies that work for each of them.
o She’ll also include how communication, motivation, and friendship are influenced by
our intelligences.
o Time will also be spent examining how children’s misbehavior might be due to
intelligence strengths and weaknesses.
At the end you’ll have charts filled in that will help you teach, motivate, and discipline children with each intelligence strength.
The Last night, February 26 –
The content of this last class will be spiritual applications of the multiple intelligences model. You’ll learn how our smarts can inform the way we connect to God and how to evangelize those who don’t yet know Christ. (You’re free to not listen to this night if it doesn’t interest you.)
